Any help available for writing sdf file reader

I am messing around with some robot sim stuff and realise that sdf seems to be the most likely format of choice. Anyone have any idea about how to load sdf files into pi3d? Could not find any simple reference docs for the sdf format, and my xml parser could be the problem (thought I am fairly sure its not) I have already googled and written some code over the weekend that attempts it but all the pose coords come out wrong when displaying a test file (not sure how the reference frame for coords is worked out). I am only messing so probably put this back on the shelf unless someone has simple suggestions (I am too lazy to try moving up through parent joints and viewing testing checking etc) Alternatively anyone know of any other model definition file formats that can be easily used in pi3d? I could post code if anyone is interested, but I am thinking I may spend next weekend hacking then will move on to something else, so unless someone has quick advice for simple way to do this I may not bother. Anyways the more I think about it the more problems I see, as I am not even sure if the test model I downloaded is correct. Sorry in advance for this post, I know it is wrong, please forgive my lack of effort. ;) (;
